The Other Woman is that rare film that will leave discerning audiences wondering if the filmmakers consciously set out to utilize every previously-used and abused cliché in the genre they could think of in order to crank out a film that was 100% unoriginal and predictable from start to finish.
The LEGO® Movie is credited to four writers, and it feels like it. Plus, it commits the unforgivable sin as far as films geared toward younger audiences: It’s slow to the point of potentially boring the kids.
Last Vegas is hardly the finest work to ever come from the ensemble cast it features, and it doesn’t aspire to be. Instead, it aims at delivering a whole of charm and fun, and thanks to that veteran cast of screen legends, it succeeds.
Fans of the Jackass series and the previous films will no doubt love Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. For other viewers, it will depend entirely on how funny they find old people and kids being crude, and the looks on unsuspecting people’s faces as they get pranked.
Like the former mafia clan that is its narrative focus, “The Family” is charming, clever, vicious when it has to be, and fun throughout. Fans of “The Sopranos” and DeNiro’s other gangster-related work will love it, but it’s certainly entertaining for anyone who enjoys a good dark comedy.
